Playing alongside Eric is not a new experience for guitarist Andy, born in Cardiff, Wales in 1948 , who has been with Eric since 1992, joined his band for their recent concert tour of Japan in 1997; and contributed to Eric's 1992 acoustic album Unplugged. He first worked with Clapton during the 1983 ARMS Tour and Roger Water's Pros & Cons Of Hitchhiking project (along with Katie Kissoon). Among other greats that Andy, a founder member of 1960s band Amen Cornerwhich had several hits including "Bend Me Shape Me", "Half As Nice" and "Gin House" (which was resurrected during Clapton's 1999 Japan Tour), has worked with are George Harrison and Van Morrison. More recently he played on the new Linda Ronstadt album and, after being asked to appear with the Big Town Playboys, ended up doing dates with them for 18 months. The results of their on-stage collaboration appear on the band's album Off The Clock - Live, released in May 1998 on Eagle Rock Records. Andy has released his own albums in the past including Spider Jiving '74 and Be Bop 'N' Holla '76. Fairweather-Low recorded two albums with Bill Wyman's '80s band, Willie And The Poor Boys. Steve Gadd was born in Rochester, New York, April 9, 1945. Studied music at Eastman College, Rochester, playing in wind ensemble and concert band, and at nights in a club with Chick Corea, Chuck Mangione, Joe Romano and Frank Pullara. After college, drafted into army and spent three years in a military band. After the army, gigged and worked with a big band in Rochester. 1972, formed a trio with Tony Levin and Mike Holmes, going to New York with it. The trio fizzled out, but Gadd began to work extensively as a studio musician. He also played with Corea's first Return to Forever. 1970's and 1980's, toured internationally, recorded with Paul Simon and with Al DiMeola's Electric Rendezvous Band. By the end of the 1970's Gadd was the most in-demand and probably the most imitated drummer in the world. In Japan transcriptions of his solos were on sale, and all the leading Japanese drummers were sounding like him. Chick Corea commented, "Every drummer wants to play like Gadd because he plays perfect . . . He has brought orchestral and compositional thinking to the drum kit while at the same time having a great imagination and a great ability to swing." His credits range from the Oscar-nominated motion picture 'The Colour Purple' to box office hits like 'Saturday Night Fever', 'The Wiz', 'Footloose' and 'Coming To America'. In recognition of his incredible talent, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences presented Paulinho with its "Most Valuable Player Award" for three consecutive years and the honorary "Musicians Emeritus Award."
