Le 3 Février 2012 : Le gratin pour Hubert Sumlin

Le grand guitariste Hubert Sumlin s’est éteint le 4 décembre dernier. Il a certes fait l’objet d’hommages depuis sa disparition, mais un événement à venir nous paraît mériter la mention. En effet, le 24 février 2012, dans le cadre prestigieux de l’Apollo Theater de New York, un concert organisé par l’association « Howlin’ for Hubert » rassemblera un aréopage assez édifiant de musiciens remarquables. Il suffit de se rendre sur le site Internet pour s’en convaincre, où l’on découvre les noms de Doyle Bramhall II, Eric Clapton, Gary Clark, Jr., James Cotton, Shemekia Copeland, Billy Flynn, Barrelhouse Chuck Goering, Buddy Guy, David Johansen, Steve Jordan, Danny Kortchmar, Dr. John, Keb’ Mo’, Todd Mohr, Ivan Neville, Robert Randolph, Keith Richards, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Larry Taylor, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, Jimmie Vaughan, Jimmie Vivino, Willie Weeks, Jody Williams, Kim Wilson, ainsi que des invités surprise. Enfin, et ce n’est pas le moins important, l’opération permettra de récolter des fonds pour la Jazz Foundation of America.

Dr John était absent bien que prévu et il semble que Gary Clark Jr soit le nouveau protégé de Clapton, ce qui n’est pas pour me déplaire.
Clapton a joué sur ; Key To The Highway (acoustique), Shake For Me, Little Baby, 44 Blues, Goin' Down Slow, Spoonful, Wang Dang Doodle et Smokestack Lightning.
Je crois bien que c’est la première fois qu’il joue avec J.Cotton.
Qui peut me dire qui est Jody Williams ?
